This post is a double-whammy: baby gift ideas and my first two contributions to Use It Up. A good friend from grad school is having a baby girl, so I made her the Interweave Knits Baby Kimono and a pair of Better than Booties Baby Socks. (Ravelry links)
I love the look of the baby kimono. I never really appreciated garter stitch until now, but I think it’s beautiful – classic and interesting while still being easy to do.
The baby socks are a go-to gift pattern for me. I think they are adorable, and they are so fast to make. The socks use a small amount of yarn and come together really quickly.
I’m really pleased with how these projects came out. The items are feminine without being pink-princess girly, and I hope my friend likes them. I’m also pleased that I was able to use some of my existing yarn to create such cute items!
These are adorable! Perfect for a “first baby pic” photo op with the bright colors. I need to learn how to knit.
